Tables are available to creators of artists’ books or other printed media; independent publishers of zines, mini-comics, chapbooks, etc.; small distributors of zines or other printed media.; and producers of book arts, handmade journals, and one-of-a-kind book objects. Last year’s most successful vendors attracted customers with demonstrations, affordable materials and objects, and big smiles.
Because Handmade & Bound Nashville is highlighting the small press and independent creators, please do not register if you have a professional magazine/comic/newspaper/book, or if you only sell crafts. If you aren’t sure whether we’re the right fit (you probably are!), or if you have any questions, email us.
Event Description
Handmade & Bound Nashville 2013 is the third edition of our annual festival celebrating the art of handcrafted zines, artists’ books, and all things book arts. The committee for this festival is composed of librarians, zine makers, book artists, and enthusiasts of the printed word and the medium of the book. The festival will feature vendors, speakers, demonstrations, a gallery exhibition, and of course, food.
Depending on weather, vendors will set-up indoors at Watkins College of Art, Design & Film, with the option of setting up in designated areas outside, adjacent to the building. Demonstrations and participatory activities will take place both inside and out, with food trucks providing nourishment. The festival date is Saturday, October 5, 2013 preceded by opening events Friday, October 4.
Handmade & Bound Nashville has citywide advertising for the event and, in addition to sponsors the Library at Watkins and Watkins College of Art, Design & Film Community Education, past supporters included local businesses and the William N. Rollins Fund for the Arts of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. We are all really excited about this event and working hard to make the second annual Handmade & Bound Nashville even bigger than the first edition. We look forward to working with interested local and regional artists and vendors and welcome all applications. We view this festival as a true opportunity to develop camaraderie within the artists’ book/zine community and hope you will consider participating in this event.
